Over the past few months, various figures have been making their exit from 60 Minutes. Recently, producer Henry Schuster has announced his own departure from the series. At the time, he also mused on what could be next for him.
Henry Schuster Joined 60 Minutes In 2007 After Previously Working For CNN For Over Two Decades
Schuster joined 60 Minutes back in 2007. Before that, he spent around 25 years at CNN, working there from 1981 to 2006.
In addition to this, Schuster is also known as an author. He also wrote the true crime book, Hunting Eric Rudolph, with Charles Stone.
Recently, Schuster took to LinkedIn to announce his exit from 60 Minutes. At the time, he wrote, “After almost two decades, it was time for a change. It has been a great run at 60 Minutes and what I got to do there was extraordinary. But I have been thinking about leaving for a while now and when the opportunity presented itself in February, I took it. And finally, it is official.”
Schuster Alluded To Some Of His Other Co-Workers’ Recent Exits From The Show
Schuster also touched on the recent overhaul at 60 Minutes, claiming that his departure “has been overshadowed by the forced departures of so many colleagues and friends at the broadcast.” Over the past few months, viewers have seen a number of figures leave the show, either by choice or by being terminated.
These have included Anderson Cooper, Tanya Simon, Draggan Mihailovich, Scott Pelley, Cecilia Vega, and Sharyn Alfonsi. This also comes out as CBS News viewers have seen multiple changes happen at the network since the installation of Bari Weiss as editor-in-chief.

During the shared, Schuster teased what could be next for him. As he joked, “Maybe I will finally get my high school diploma, or see if I have another book in me. Or maybe something else.” In truth, he had attended the University of Cambridge and the University of Chicago. He also teased, “I will try to avoid being a cliché, so I’m not starting a podcast or a Substack. At least not now.”
As he said goodbye to 60 Minutes, Schuster also asked his audience if they had projects they’d be interested in bringing him on. He shared, “If you have any interesting projects, please let me know. I’m open to ideas. Thanks for your help along the way and on the way forward. My phone number will stay the same, for those who have it. The tide is up. Time to get out there!”
Likely with his tongue firmly in cheek, Schuster also updated his main LinkedIn page to share that his most recent job was “Gardening Leave.” He wrote “Retired?” for the company. Writing that he started this role in June 2026, he added that he was based in Beaufort, South Carolina.
