Virgin Plus is going to get a bit more expensive, as the carrier has upped its prices.

Essentially, all of the Bell sub-brand’s plans have gone up by $5/mo as of July 3. The change impacts in-market plans, so existing customers won’t need to worry unless they want to change plans.

Here is a breakdown of the prices now:

    • $45/20GB with unlimited Canada-wide talk/text and 5G speeds (was $40/20GB)
    • $50/60GB with unlimited Canada-wide talk/text and 5G speeds (was $45/60GB)
    • $55/60GB with unlimited Canada/US/Mexico talk/text, unlimited international calls to 27 countries, and 5G speeds (was $55/60GB)

Typically, when we see one of the Big Three sub-brands raise prices, the others aren’t far behind. But at least for now, Rogers’ Fido and Telus’ Koodo are still offering cheaper options.

Both Fido and Koodo currently have plans matching the old Virgin pricing (e.g. $45/60GB). However, Fido lists its plans as ending on July 3, while Koodo lists them as ending on July 6. So, you’ll need to move quickly if you want to pick up one of these plans.

But, there are better options as well. Public Mobile (also owned by Telus) currently has a $45/150GB unlimited Canada/US/Mexico plan (though it’s also set to end on July 6). Freedom Mobile, meanwhile, has $40/75GB and $45/100GB plans that include Canada/U.S./Mexico usage, roaming in over 120 destinations, and more.
