Dick Van Dyke turned 100 years old in December 2025. The beloved actor regularly works out at the gym, but his other public outings are becoming rare as his age catches up with him. He looked frail on a recent outing with his wife. Stay on this page to see the photos.
Dick Van Dyke Shares Secret Of Longevity
Dick Van Dyke has managed to live longer than most of his generation. After vowing never to retire, he made his soap opera debut at the age of 97. He joined Days of Our Lives in 2023 as Tim Robicheaux. It was revealed during the two-week arc that the character was the father of John Black, played by Drake Hogestyn.
Dick Van Dyke didn’t return in person for John Black’s funeral, but his character was mentioned on-screen. Drake Hogestyn passed away in September 2024 after a private battle with cancer.
Dick Van Dyke opened up about how he stayed young in a 2017 documentary that also featured Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner. “New experiences are the only thing you can collect in life that end up being worth it. I love having somewhere to go,” he said in If You’re Not in the Obit, Eat Breakfast.

Mary Poppins Star, 100, Looks Frail During Rare Public Outing
Having a wife 46 years your junior might help Dick Van Dyke’s longevity. He married Arlene Silver, 54, in 2012. They met backstage at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2006. She was working as a makeup artist at the event. They hit it off and tied the knot when he was 86 and she was 40.
The couple was spotted out and about in Los Angeles earlier this week. Page Six reported that the actor’s wife helped him out of the car. Dick Van Dyke used a walker and looked frail during the outing. The couple stopped at Starbucks during the rare public appearance.
