David Muir is known for his work as a broadcast journalist. However, he recently got fans talking with a post on social media, teasing a big moment coming to television. The big moment concerned a restricted landmark ahead of a big event.

ABC’s David Muir Recently Got Involved With An Event Kicking Off A Certain Anniversary

As a journalist, Muir is best known to many as the anchor for ABC World News Tonight. He also serves as a co-anchor for 20/20.

Since joining the former show in 2007, Muir has become one of the most visible journalists in the United States. Recently, he had a share for viewers on social media that later got a broadcast follow-up.

Muir recently got fans talking with a new photo of himself after scaling a restricted landmark. This was none other than the Statue of Liberty, as part of the “Disney Celebrates America” event kicking off the Fourth of July weekend, with the United States celebrating its 250th anniversary.

On July 2, Muir took to Instagram with a snapshot of the statue. As it read, “Getting ready to take you 305 feet up. We climbed up through Lady Liberty’s right arm to reach the torch.”

In the image, Muir could be seen looking out into the distance from the statue’s top. What made the feat all the more impressive is that the torch has been closed to visitors since 1916.

Viewers later saw more of Muir’s trip to the statue during the television event. Speaking with Captain Hamilton Clancy, whose grandfather used to be the superintendent of Liberty Island, Muir shared, “It’s impossible to fully imagine what it was like for the immigrants all those years ago, turning the corner and seeing that torch for the first time,” with Clancy commending these people for their bravery.

Some Fans Shared That They Were Worried For Muir On Social Media

As the broadcast continued, viewers got to follow Muir as he went inside the statue, even discussing its development with historian Matt Housch. During the discussion, it was noted that the statue was designed so that people arriving in New York Harbor would see Lady Liberty the moment they got there.

Muir continued to highlight the majesty of the statue, noting, “For generations of immigrants crossing the Atlantic, coming here to the United States, this was the first view they would see when they pulled into New York Harbor, the torch of the Statue of Liberty high above the harbor. It was the signal of something, the chance of a new life right here in America.”

With Muir’s recent share, he got different reactions from fans. A few surprised fans admitted that they got worried seeing Muir so high up during the share, with some writing in anticipation of the broadcast. Some comments included:

    • “Let’s celebrate America’s 250th birthday in style at the Statue of Liberty, with World News Tonight anchor David Muir leading the way. Freedom!”
    • “I can’t wait to see this! This is so exciting! Be careful on those stairs!”
    • “Twice over the years I’ve been to The Statue of Liberty but both times the arm was being repaired, still there is quite a view from her Crown!!”
    • “Be careful tomorrow night my sweet David.”

What is your reaction to David Muir’s share? Have you been following this story? Are you keeping up with America’s 250th? Make sure you come back to TV Shows Ace for all the latest TV and celebrity news.
