Mackenzie Shirilla Loses Big In Court
Mackenzie Shirilla was just 17 when she crashed her car into a brick wall, killing her two passengers. The police came to the conclusion that the crash was intentional and prosecutors successfully argued that in court. Mackenzie Shirilla was found guilty of 12 federal charges, including four counts of murder, in the deaths of her boyfriend, Dominic Russo and their friend Davion Flanagan.
The incident happened in 2022 but a Netflix docuseries brought newfound attention. While a jury found her guilty, many people on social media believe that she’s innocent. Mackenzie Shirilla hoped to get another trial to prove her innocence. However, her latest appeal was turned down by the Ohio Supreme Court over a simple clerical error. Her lawyers filed the paperwork one day too late. They unsuccessfully argued that the date was correct because the year it was filed, 2024, was a leap year.
Despite losing big in court, Mackenzie Shirilla and her legal team aren’t giving up hope. She sent a message and a thirst trap photo to her social media followers.
Prison Thirst Trap & Message To Supporters
Most prisons now allow inmates access to emails and tablets. However, social media is still banned. Mackenzie Shirilla’s Instagram is run by her support team. The last post was in February. Her support team posted a new photo a few days ago that included a message to Mackenzie’s supporters.
“Mackenzie is trying to do better every day and holding on to hope. Her post conviction relief was denied due to a deadline technicality. The decision has nothing to do with the contents of it, it was unable to even be reviewed,” the message began.

It went on to call the lawyer who missed the deadline “ineffective” counsel. The message vowed to continue fighting for an appeal. Mackenzie Shirilla and her support team asked followers to sign and share a petition to secure a fair re-trial. ”
“We ALL deserve fair representation and once you review her case you’ll agree she did not get that,” the message said. The post included a glam photo of Mackenzie Shirilla from prison. She was mocked online for wearing her hair in a messy bun in the Netflix documentary. In the new photo, her long hair cascaded over her shoulders.
Prison inmates don’t have much access to makeup and beauty products. But Mackenzie Shirilla made do with what she had. Her cheeks were flushed, her eyebrows on point, and her lips in a perfect pout.
