The race to the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026 title enters its business end as table-toppers San Francisco Unicorns (SFU) take on second-placed Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) in the Qualifier at the Oakland Coliseum. Having finished as the two best teams in the league stage, both sides will now fight for a direct berth in the grand finale.
San Francisco Unicorns have enjoyed a superb campaign and finished at the top of the standings after registering a six-wicket victory over Seattle Orcas (SO) in their final league fixture. Finn Allen starred with a blistering 65 off 31 balls, while skipper Matthew Short played a valuable knock of 43. Hassan Khan then produced a sensational late assault with an unbeaten 36 off just 10 deliveries to guide the Unicorns to a successful chase of 191 with an over to spare.
Los Angeles Knight Riders also head into the playoffs with plenty of confidence after defeating Texas Super Kings (TSK) by six wickets in their last league match. Colin Munro laid the platform with an attacking 62, before Matthew Tromp remained unbeaten on 58 off just 28 balls to finish the chase in style. Earlier, Jason Holder claimed three wickets and Sunil Narine delivered another economical spell as LAKR restricted Texas to 171/9.

Oakland Coliseum Pitch Report
The drop-in surface at the Oakland Coliseum has produced a balanced contest between bat and ball throughout the tournament. Fast bowlers are expected to enjoy some movement with the new ball, as the pitch offers a bit of seam and can be slightly two-paced during the opening overs.
Once batters settle in, stroke-making becomes much easier as the bounce remains consistent and the ball comes nicely onto the bat. Teams that preserve wickets during the Powerplay are likely to capitalize in the second half of the innings. While pacers should dominate early, spinners could also come into play during the middle overs by varying their pace. A first-innings total in the region of 175-185 should be competitive, with the captain winning the toss likely to opt to bowl first.
