Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani recently celebrated their 5th wedding anniversary. But things reportedly aren’t as rosy between them as they want fans to think. The couple is completely opposite and their marriage is reportedly a “work in progress.” Keep reading for an insider’s take on the surprise coupling.
Blake Shelton & Gwen Stefani’s Marriage ‘Work In Progress’ Amid Split Rumors
Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani were both going through divorces when they were coaches on The Voice. They bonded over the tough times and friendship turned into romance. They dated for five years before making it official. The country crooner took on the role of stepfather to Gwen’s three sons with her ex-husband, Gavin Rossdale.
Blake and Gwen lived very different lives before getting together. He’s a farm boy from Oklahoma while she’s a California girl. Their careers also take them in different directions. Even when their careers align, they still have trouble. The singers both performed in Las Vegas earlier this year but in different venues. Blake Shelton’s perceived lack of support for Gwen Stefani’s reunion with No Doubt sparked rumors of trouble in paradise.
But a source close to the couple told In Touch Weekly that Blake and Gwen’s different views of where “paradise” is a huge strain on their relationship. “They always joke that they’re living proof opposites attract, but the reality is they’re two very different people with very different ideas about what makes them happy,” the insider said. Blake Shelton is happiest in Oklahoma.

Meanwhile, Gwen Stefani reportedly likes the quieter life in small doses, but craves the limelight of Los Angeles. “They’ve been trying to find a happy medium for years and it’s still very much a work in progress,” the insider said.
Gwen Stefani Posts Sweet Tribute To Her ‘Forever’
Despite her busy schedule, Gwen Stefani didn’t let her wedding anniversary go by without a social media shout-out. “5 years married to my forever 💐🤍 still making me laugh every day @blakeshelton gx,” she captioned an Instagram post that included video of some of their best times together. The video highlighted their wedding day and shared a glimpse of their everyday life together.
But the insider said it would take more than a social media post for their marriage to last. “The hope is that if they make this effort the spark will come back because as much as they gush over each other online, things between them aren’t wine and roses, by any means.”
