The Nation’s Dumbest premiered on Wednesday, July 15th, and featured a handful of “celebrities” going back to school. They had to do everything from mental and physical challenges during their time on the show. That being said, host Jack Whitehall detailed where the show’s minimal budget went, and it was to help with two insane issues. Keep reading for more details.
Nation’s Dumbest Had 2 Ridiculous Issues
When it comes to filming a game show with a competitive edge, the cast needs to be considered. For the Nation’s Dumbest, there is an array of “stars” participating. The cast includes JoJo Siwa, Elle King, Dr. Drew Pinsky, Ice-T, and Steve-O. Some are eclectic, while others are considered exploitative. Regardless, this is a hot new series, with host and comedian Jack Whitehall. He has teased that people should want to be axed from the new show, but he also poked fun at the minimal budget.
Jack stated that the money went to covering up Steve O’s phallic tattoos. They became somewhat of a problem, and despite the makeup department doing their job, physical challenges proved, well, challenging:
“He had a lot of time in the makeup chair to cover that up. And every time we were doing a physical challenge, he started sweating and so did all of the production team.”
Jack went on to poke fun at the amount of pixels utilized to cover up Steve- O’s penis ink. He shared that the budget was used largely for that as the network aimed to keep it a family show. Moreover, he teased that they had to make it look like Ice-T wanted to be there, which was no easy feat. It is more likely that the funds went toward Steve-O’s tattoo at the end of the day.
It was actually Steve-O’s phallic tattoo that made Jack Whitehall think that he would not excel on the Nation’s Dumbest. However, he had to eat crow and admit that he ended up being blown away by him.
Don’t Judge A Book By Its Cover
Jack Whitehall learned very quickly never to judge a book by its cover when he met Steve-O. On the Nation’s Dumbest, he was very impressive:
“I was aware that he had a tattoo of a penis on his forehead. So I’d say the bar was set pretty low. But he really exceeded expectations. He had some smarts [and] had some very triumphant moments.”
Jack admitted he likely could not have been on the show, and it is only because of his accent that he sounds smart. At the end of the day, he is better off as a host, but he seems to make it fun for the participants.
