Anne Hathaway recently stepped by the Today studio to promote her latest film, complete with a guest. However, what made the moment all the more memorable was a surprise Craig Melvin had planned for her. Tying into recent news, Melvin explained that multiple members of the Today family helped everything to come together.
Anne Hathaway & Tom Holland Were Recent Guests On Today, Speaking With Craig Melvin
As an actress, Anne Hathaway first became known to many playing Princess Mia in The Princess Diaries. Over the years, she became known for a number of films, including The Dark Knight Rises, The Devil Wears Prada, Ella Enchanted, and Alice in Wonderland.
Recently, Hathaway was cast as Penelope, the wife of Odysseus, in Christopher Nolan’s 2026 adaptation of The Odyssey. To promote the film, she and Tom Holland, who plays her onscreen son, Telemachus, appeared alongside each other during a recent episode of Today.
However, one of the most memorable moments of the episode was a gift that Hathaway received from co-host Craig Melvin. As Melvin shared, “We wanted to celebrate you, and we wanted to celebrate your bun there in the oven. We got you a baby gift, and this is not something that you could find in stores.” Last month, the actress had shared that she was pregnant with her third child with husband, Adam Shulman.
Melvin Also Jokingly Promised That Holland Would Also Get A Similar Gift When His Time Comes
Hathaway got teary-eyed over the present, which she called “so cute.” Explaining what is was, Melvin shared, “When the child comes out, we want the child ready for battle. It is a Trojan outfit, custom-designed for the baby.”
The gift was revealed to be crocheted Trojan armor, including a helmet, diaper, cape, and sandal, all fit for a baby. The actress then asked, “Who is talented enough to make all of this?” Melvin explained that members of Today‘s wardrobe team were responsible for crafting the impressive gift.
Melvin then teased that Holland will also get a similar gift when he becomes a father. He teased, “So, Tom, when you have your child…” The actor himself finished, “I know where to come. I’ll come right back here.” As fans know, Holland quietly married actress Zendaya earlier this year.
Hathaway thanked Melvin, “This is appropriately epic. Thank you so much. This is amazing.” He replied, “Congratulations on the film that you’ve created, and the life that you’re creating, as well.”
