Week eight of the 2026 Canadian Football League season is now complete, and two Canadians recorded touchdowns for winning teams. They were Calgary Stampeders wide receiver Jalen Philpot of Delta, British Columbia and Edmonton Elks wide receiver Brendan O’Leary-Orange of Toronto, Ontario.
O’Leary-Orange had a 16-yard touchdown catch from Cody Fajardo at 4:19 of the first quarter in a 36-34 Elks win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders at Mosaic Stadium in Regina, Saskatchewan on Thursday. The Elks opened the scoring and went up 7-0 at the time. O’Leary-Orange finished the game with five catches for 59 receiving yards. In 2026, O’Leary-Orange has 18 catches for 274 receiving yards and one touchdown. With the win, the Elks improved to a record of six wins and one loss, and lead the West Division.
Philpot had a 69-yard touchdown catch from Vernon Adams Jr. at the 33 second mark of the third quarter in a 52-30 Stampeders win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Manitoba capital on Friday. At the time, the Stampeders went up 32-17. In the game, Philpot had four catches for 128 yards receiving. For the season, Philpot has 31 catches for 535 receiving yards and five touchdown catches. With the win, the Stampeders improved to a record of three wins and four losses on the season.
