Bill Maher Discussed Bari Weiss During A Recent Vanity Fair Interview
Throughout his career, Maher has hosted a number of shows. Since 2003, he has hosted HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher. Previously, he hosted Politically Incorrect from 1993 to 2002. In addition, he also hosts the podcast Club Random.
Maher is known for discussing a number of topics through his shows. However, he recently took part in an interview with Vanity Fair. Once again speaking about a variety of topics, he recently opened up about a conversation with CBS News’ editor-in-chief, Bari Weiss.
As previously reported, Weiss took over as editor-in-chief for the network this past October. This came to be after Skydance Media took over Paramount Global, acquiring her digital media company, The Free Press.
Maher shared that he recently shared that he had dinner with Weiss and asked about how CBS staffers were treating her. He reportedly asked, “I was curious to just ask her, ‘What’s it like going to work every day there? Are they putting Kick Me signs on your back?’”
Maher Previously Referred To Weiss As ‘My Girl’ During An Episode Of His Podcast
Maher said that Weiss herself alleged that critics at CBS are “too cowardly” to say anything negative to her, at least directly. When asked if there were people at CBS who supported her leadership, Weiss allegedly told Maher, “Not everyone at the network is crazy.” Reportedly, she even claimed, “Some feel liberated.”
This isn’t the first time that Maher discussed Weiss. He previously talked about her during a November episode of his Club Random podcast. Speaking with President Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, Maher shared, “You know, I find it very frustrating that I cannot get the full story anywhere in the old media.”
“It’s very, I mean, I love the new Free Press. My girl, Bari Weiss, who started that and now she runs CBS. You know, you’re seeing a change there that’s more fair.”
Over the past year, audiences have seen a number of figures leave CBS News. In particular, the changes at 60 Minutes have especially made headlines, including the firings of Scott Pelley, Sharyn Alfonsi, and Cecilia Vega, among others.
