Speaking to reporters after signing a brand endorsement deal with Al Ansari Exchange in Dubai, Samson explained that his mindset has always revolved around competing against the opposition rather than against fellow Indian players. When asked whether winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and being named Player of the Tournament had changed his outlook towards competition, Samson said his approach had remained the same.
“This is definitely a team sport. When it comes to a team sport, we have competition with other teams. I am someone who doesn’t like to compete against my own teammates. My energy is that ‘I want to defeat the opposition, this is a crucial match and I want to play and win’. This isn’t just a mindset that came after the World Cup,” Sanju said.
