Deepti Sharma believes her stint in The Hundred Women 2026 is providing valuable preparation ahead of the Women’s Asia Cup, which is scheduled to begin on August 28. With the continental tournament approaching, the India all-rounder is using her time with Sunrisers Leeds to sharpen her skills across all three departments of the game.

Deepti Sharma keeps Asia Cup firmly in focus

While the Women’s Champions Trophy remains an important event on the horizon, Deepti is currently concentrating on making the most of her opportunity in The Hundred. The tournament has given her the chance to compete in a different environment while working on areas of her game that could prove crucial for India. Speaking via JioStar, Deepti said that her immediate attention is on The Hundred before turning her focus completely towards the Asia Cup.

“There is still some time left for the Women’s Champions Trophy, which will be played in February 2027. So right now, my focus is on The Hundred. The Women’s Asia Cup is starting from 28th August, and that is an important tournament for the Indian team,” Deepti said.

Her comments underline the importance of the Asia Cup for India, with the team looking to build momentum ahead of the bigger international assignments that await them.

The Hundred helping Deepti improve in all departments

Deepti has established herself as one of India’s most dependable all-rounders, capable of contributing with both bat and ball while also offering athleticism in the field. Her current campaign in The Hundred is allowing her to work on each aspect of her game. The all-rounder explained that playing in the competition has provided her with a valuable opportunity to test herself and identify areas where she can continue improving.

“Playing in The Hundred is giving me a great opportunity to work on my skills in all three departments, batting, bowling, and fielding. I am trying to make the most of this tournament so that I can go into the Asia Cup well prepared,” she added.

That experience could prove particularly useful when India enter the Asia Cup, where Deepti is expected to play an important role in the team’s plans.

Sunrisers Leeds stint could benefit India

Beyond her individual development, Deepti is also keen to make a meaningful contribution to Sunrisers Leeds during her time in the competition. She believes performing consistently for her franchise will help her grow as a cricketer and ultimately strengthen her international game.

“I am giving my best for Sunrisers Leeds, and that will help me grow as a player and also benefit the team in the long run,” Deepti said.

With the Asia Cup only weeks away, Deepti’s focus on gaining maximum value from The Hundred could give India an important boost. Her ability to contribute in multiple departments makes her a key player, and the experience gained in England could help her arrive at the continental tournament with greater confidence and sharper skills.
