When Janelle Brown met Kody Brown, she was already married to Adam Barber. He was Kody’s brother-in-law and his first wife, Meri Brown’s brother, but Janelle liked the idea of polygamy. At the same time, her mother, Sheryl, had intended to keep her away from that lifestyle, but she fell right into it. She married Kody’s father, while Janelle and Adam got divorced. Janelle went on to become Kody’s second wife, and they welcomed six children together. After thirty years, she opted to leave the plural family as she saw it was no longer a happy marriage.
