Guyana Amazon Warriors and Saint Lucia Kings faced off in an entertaining Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 contest at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium. The game remained competitive during the early stages before the Amazon Warriors gradually took control with disciplined bowling and a composed chase.
Among the notable moments from the match was a sharp piece of fielding involving Mavendra Dindyal during the Kings’ innings. The young batter and fielder made an important contribution to the contest as Guyana continued to keep the pressure on the hosts.

The moment came on the final delivery of the sixth over, when Dwaine Pretorius bowled a short delivery at the stumps. Andries Gous backed away and attempted to pull the ball towards deep mid-wicket. However, the wind held the ball up and it travelled towards the fielder stationed near the boundary.
Dindyal moved sideways while staying close to the ropes and completed an excellent catch to send the dangerous opener back to the pavilion. Gous departed for 20 off 21 balls, having struck three fours. The dismissal also meant that the Kings had lost both their opening batters inside the Powerplay.

Mavendra Dindyal stars as Guyana Amazon Warriors win by seven wickets
The Kings struggled to build a big total after losing their openers. Charith Asalanka and Darron Nedd then put together a 45-run partnership to provide some stability, with Asalanka eventually top-scoring with 35. Pretorius returned to dismiss Asalanka and completed his three-wicket haul with figures of 3/29. Shamar Joseph also impressed with 2/25 as the Amazon Warriors restricted the Kings to 151/7. The chase began positively for the visitors, with Glenn Phillips attacking early and helping establish a strong platform.
Phillips scored 36, while Dindyal continued after his impressive catch and brought up his maiden CPL half-century. After Dindyal was dismissed for 50, Shai Hope also fell to leave the game briefly in the balance. Quentin Sampson then shifted the momentum with two sixes before Shimron Hetmyer smashed four successive boundaries and finished the chase with a six. The Amazon Warriors reached 157/3 in 18.1 overs to complete a seven-wicket victory and move to the top of the CPL 2026 table.
