The European Commission stated on Thursday that Spain has a “duty” to guarantee the protection of unaccompanied migrant children who crossed into Ceuta, while reiterating its “clear expectation” that all migrants who entered the autonomous city irregularly will be returned to Morocco.
“The protection of vulnerable children must be guaranteed. And this is, of course, a duty of the State, in this case the Spanish authorities, to guarantee it,” said Markus Lammert, the European Commission’s spokesperson on Home Affairs, at a press conference in Brussels.
“The Commission is working intensively with both Spain and Morocco to help achieve their return to Morocco with full respect for EU and international law,” Lammert added, stressing the need for “the returns to take place effectively.”
Street in Mallorca named most expensive in Spain
Mallorca, Madrid, and Málaga account for the ten most expensive streets in Spain, according to a new ranking by property portal Idealista.
An average of €15 million is what you need to splurge on average on a house on Camí des Salinar in the coastal municipality of Andratx in Mallorca.
In second place, is Paseo de los Lagos in the La Finca development, located in the upmarket barrio of Pozuelo de Alarcón in Madrid, where a home costs an average of €11 million.
The podium is completed by the Coto Zagaleta residential complex in Benahavís in Málaga, a town with a large foreign population, where buying property requires €10.5 million at least.

If you’ve lived in Spain for a while, you may have noticed that construction site-watching is almost a national sport for Spanish abuelos.
That explains why a developer building a new shopping complex in the northern Spanish city of Pamplona has decide to pay homage to this endearing practice and designed a tarpaulin geared towards these elderly peekers, with transparent parts for them to watch every detail as if they were at the cinema.
The tarp also includes tongue-in-cheek slogans such as “panel of experts”, “VIP box” and “live connection”.
Interestingly, the canvas was vandalised on Thursday with messages such as “us ladies also enjoy watching”.
Rain and cooler weather across much of Spain
The weather has changed considerably over the past 24 hours in Spain.
After several days of high temperatures, Friday brings a general drop in temperatures as well as rain and thunderstorms as the main features in different parts of the country.
National weather agency (Aemet) has issued weather warnings in five autonomous communities, with particular attention to the Balearic Islands and Catalonia.
In fact, Mallorca and Menorca will be under an orange alert for rain and storms, while Ibiza and Formentera will have yellow alerts for rainfall.
Showers and thunderstorms are also expected on Friday afternoon in areas of Barcelona, Girona, and the Aragon
