The Women’s Delhi Premier League 2026 has produced a viral moment after Delhi leg-spinner Medhavi Bidhuri caught attention with an unusual wicket celebration. The Central Delhi Queens spinner performed the popular ‘6-7’ gesture after dismissing South Delhi Superstarz batter Nishika Singh in her team’s tournament opener on August 20.

While the celebration quickly brought Bidhuri into the spotlight, the young cricketer has been building her career through the Delhi cricket system for several years. She has represented Delhi at Under-19 level and has already delivered a memorable performance in the Delhi Premier League.

    Who is Medhavi Bidhuri?

Medhavi is a 20-year-old right-arm leg-spinner from Delhi who has been part of the state’s domestic cricket setup. She has also represented Delhi at the Under-19 level as she progressed through the ranks. Bidhuri’s performances have helped her gain recognition beyond Delhi cricket as well. She was among the players registered for the Women’s Premier League 2024 auction, putting her name on the radar of franchises at an early stage of her career.

What is the story behind Medhavi’s ‘6-7’ celebration?

Bidhuri’s viral moment came during Central Delhi Queens’ opening game of the 2026 DPL against South Delhi Superstarz. In the 16th over, Nishika was caught by Arushi Goel at mid-wicket off Bidhuri’s bowling. The spinner then celebrated by raising and lowering both hands in the now-popular ‘6-7’ gesture.

The celebration had a personal connection. Bidhuri originally wanted to wear jersey No. 12, but the number was already taken. Her younger sister suggested No. 67 and asked her to use the trending ‘6-7’ gesture as her wicket celebration. Bidhuri finished the game with figures of 2/24 from four overs, although Central Delhi Queens eventually lost by 29 runs.

“This ‘six-seven’ thing is trending a bit, and my younger sister, who’s like a brother to me, told me to wear jersey number 67 and keep this as my celebration,” Bidhuri said after the match.

Medhavi starred in DPL 2025 final

Bidhuri had already produced an important performance in the Delhi Premier League before her latest viral moment. Representing South Delhi Superstarz in the 2025 edition, she played a key role in the final against Central Delhi Queens. With her team defending a modest target of 121, Bidhuri returned figures of 3/26 from three overs.

Her spell helped South Delhi Superstarz hold their nerve and secure a thrilling one-run victory to lift the title. The performance further raised her profile in Delhi cricket and contributed to her being considered among the emerging players to watch.

Medhavi’s rise continues in DPL 2026

Bidhuri is now representing Central Delhi Queens in the 2026 edition and has already taken two wickets in the tournament. Although her ‘6-7’ celebration has introduced her to a much wider audience, the leg-spinner has been steadily progressing through Delhi cricket for several years. Her performances in the DPL and her previous exposure to the WPL auction pool suggest that the 20-year-old has already begun attracting attention beyond the state circuit.
