Spain braced for storms and rain today, hackers leak names of 70,000 Moroccan police who ‘allowed’ Ceuta migrant crisis, vulture surprises bystanders in Basque city and more news from Spain this Wednesday August 26th.

Hackers leak names of 70,000 Moroccan police who ‘allowed’ Ceuta migrant crisis

The Jabaroot hacker group has released a database containing the personal information of some 70,000 members of Morocco’s intelligence and security services who allegedly facilitated the mass migrant storming of Ceuta at the end of last month.

The group presented the leak as a “gift to Spain” and maintains that the documents include data related to the operation that led to the migrant crisis.

According to the hackers themselves, the leak contains members of the General Directorate of Territorial Supervision (DGST), responsible for Moroccan domestic intelligence, and the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the country’s police force.

The hackers claim they have copies of mission orders from agents who were deployed to the area before and after the events. Furthermore, they have announced that they may publish a specific list with the names of those who, according to them, “directed and coordinated” the plan.

Spain to face more rain this week

Some places in Spain have already been having more rain than usual for this time of year, experiencing flash flooding, landslides and even hail. Now a new Atlantic storm storm is forecast for the rest of this week which will change the weather across much of Spain throughout Wednesday and Thursday.

According to the State Meteorological Agency Aemet, this will bring heavy rainfall, locally severe thunderstorms, hail, and strong gusts of wind. It will mostly affect the western half of the country, with conditions in the eastern half remaining stable.

Heavy showers are expected in Asturias and northeastern Galicia and significant drops in temperatures will be seen in Cantabria and the Basque Country. On the Valencian coast meanwhile and in the Balearic Islands, the weather will stay hot.

Volleyball coach arrested in Mallorca for raping and impregnating a minor

A volleyball coach has been arrested in Palma de Mallorca for allegedly raping a young girl, resulting in a pregnancy.

According to newspaper Última Hora, the 23-year-old Bolivian coach invited the 15-year-old victim and another minor to his home for lunch. Afterwards, he allegedly sexually assaulted one of the girls.

The young man was arrested by the National Police and after appearing in court last week, was released following being issued with a restraining order.

Vulture lands in the middle of Basque capital Vitoria-Gasteiz

An unusual scene was witnessed by residents of Basque city Vitoria-Gasteiz this week when a vulture suddenly appeared and sat in the middle of the road.

The bird of prey seemed to be dazed by the cars and struggled to fly away, but remained calm while several people gathered to watch it.

One member of the public helped to calm the bird before the local police arrived on the scene. At one point, four units of around six officers each, were present.

Finally, a professional from the Martioda Wildlife Recovery Centre arrived to take the bird away and release it in a safe place.
