Tim Curry fans have not seen the last of the legendary actor. The “Rocky Horror Picture Show” star completed filming his scenes for the upcoming horror sequel “Stream 2: Sudden Death” before his death at age 80. Director Michael Leavy confirmed that Curry finished all of his work on the film, meaning audiences will eventually have another opportunity to see the actor onscreen.
According to TMZ, Curry will reprise his role as Lockwood, a mysterious figure connected to the deadly operation at the center of the franchise. The first “Stream,” released in 2024, followed a family whose hotel getaway became a nightmare after masked killers began competing to carry out increasingly violent murders. The killings were livestreamed to an online audience that watched, placed bets, and awarded points based on the creativity of each attack.
Curry appeared near the end of the movie in a brief but important cameo as Lockwood. His character was shown wearing a plague doctor-style mask and using a wheelchair, with the scene suggesting that he was involved in a much larger organization operating the deadly game.
That appearance was not intended as a simple celebrity cameo. Leavy later explained that the filmmakers had always envisioned Lockwood as part of a broader story. “The first film only scratched the surface, and we’re excited to bring him back in a bigger role that audiences will really respond to,” the director said when Curry’s return was announced.
His Final Role Was Announced Months Before His Death
Curry’s expanded involvement in “Stream 2: Sudden Death” was publicly announced on June 1. The news was noteworthy because Curry had accepted relatively few live-action roles since suffering a major stroke in 2012. The medical emergency left him paralyzed on his left side and unable to walk, leading him to focus primarily on voice acting.
His cameo in the original “Stream” marked a rare return to feature films. The sequel was set to give him considerably more material and reveal additional details about Lockwood’s role within the franchise’s violent mythology. TMZ reported after Curry’s death that he had completed every scene required for the sequel.
The filmmakers have not publicly disclosed the precise dates or location of Curry’s filming. A production listing updated in July still described the project’s broader shoot date as “TBA,” but Leavy’s statement confirms that Curry’s individual work had been completed before he died on August 25.

‘Stream 2’ Will Expand The Deadly Game
While Leavy has remained careful about revealing major plot details, he confirmed that the sequel will follow a different family rather than returning exclusively to the survivors from the first movie. The murderous game is also expected to move from a hotel into a hospital setting.
“Now that ‘Stream’ is known and people know what it’s about, we don’t have to kind of slow play it like we did in ‘Stream 1,’” Leavy previously explained. “Now we can kind of jump right in off the rip.”
Brian Quinn of “Impractical Jokers” and producer Joe Imburgio wrote the screenplay. Curry is joined by returning cast members David Howard Thornton and Damian Maffei. Mike Giannelli, who originated the role of Art the Clown before Thornton took over the character in the “Terrifier” films, is also coming out of retirement for the sequel.
The production comes from Fuzz on the Lens Productions, the company connected to the “Terrifier” franchise.
The Director Felt Honored To Work With Tim Curry
Leavy said he was shocked and devastated by Curry’s death, describing the actor as a “true cultural icon.” The director remembered Curry as someone who brought humor, warmth, wit, and charm to the production. He also expressed gratitude that Curry’s final work had been completed and could still be shared with audiences.
“It’s deeply meaningful to know that audiences will still have the opportunity to celebrate the work Tim brought to this role,” Leavy told TMZ, adding that Curry left an extraordinary impression on the team both personally and professionally.
The Film Will Be Dedicated To Curry And Tony Todd
“Stream 2: Sudden Death” will be dedicated to Curry and horror legend Tony Todd, who appeared in the first movie before his death in November 2024. Todd played Locksley, another important figure connected to the livestreamed killing operation.
Leavy said the dedication will honor both men, their friendship with the filmmakers, and the faith they placed in the independent horror franchise. “Dedicating ‘Stream 2’ to them is our way of honoring their memory, their friendship, their belief in us, and the lasting legacy they leave behind,” he explained.
The sequel will now preserve the final performances of two actors who left enormous marks on the horror genre. Todd became synonymous with the “Candyman” franchise, while Curry terrified a generation as Pennywise in the 1990 television adaptation of Stephen King’s “It.”
Tim Curry Died At His Los Angeles-Area Home
Curry died late Tuesday night at his Los Angeles-area residence following years of serious health issues. Police reportedly responded to his home at approximately 11:23 p.m. after the Los Angeles Fire Department had been called because of a medical emergency.
The actor was pronounced dead at the scene, and authorities said no foul play was suspected. A specific cause of death was not immediately disclosed.
