Tyler Mislawchuk of Oak Bluff, Manitoba won the bronze medal at a World Triathlon Championship Series event in Weihai, China on Saturday. For Mislawchuk it was his second ever World Triathlon Championship Series medal. He previously won a bronze medal in Montreal, Quebec on June 29, 2019.
Mislawchuk posted a third place time in Weihai of one hour, 41 minutes and 25 seconds. Max Studer of Switzerland had a gold medal winning time of one hour, 41 minutes and eight seconds. David Cantero Del Campo of Spain win the silver medal with a time of one hour, 41 minutes and 18 seconds. Mislawchuk reached the podium by 16 seconds. Joao Nuno Batista of Portugal finished in fourth place with a time of one hour, 41 minutes and 41 seconds.
Mislawchuk’s swim was 18 minutes and 26 seconds. He then had a transition time from the swim to the bike of one minute and 14 seconds, a cycling time of 51 minutes and 53 seconds, a transition tine from the bike to the run of 19 seconds and a run of 29 minutes and 35 seconds.
With the bronze medal, Mislawchuk is now 14th in the world rankings. Matthew Hauser of Australia is the World Triathlon Rankings leader with 7297.59 points.
The World Triathlon Championship Series is between the World Triathlon Championships and World Cup when it comes to prestige. Mislawchuk’s bronze medal in China will give him confidence as he prepares for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
