Full House was one of several sitcoms from the 1990s that launched its child stars into massive fame. Candace Cameron Bure starred in several made-for-TV movies in her late teens and early 20s. Twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen portrayed the youngest Tanner daughter, Michelle, since they were nine months old. They starred in 14 movies together between 1992 and 2004.
They took a step back from acting after that to focus on their fashion line and other ventures. In a candid interview with SheKnows, Jodie Sweetin expressed gratitude that she was never as famous as the Olsen twins. “There are a lot of young people and kids who didn’t have as great of a time — even on, like, the Boy Meets World set … They were teenagers, so there was kind of more drama and stuff,” Jodie Sweetin said about the child stars of the time.
“When Mary-Kate and Ashley started getting popular, they were doing movies, songs and all of that. They didn’t get a break,” the Full House star said. “They worked all the time and they didn’t get the chance to just be normal kids in the way that I did. I had parents that really protected me and didn’t want money or fame.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Jodie Sweetin defended her co-star, Lori Loughlin. The When Calls the Heart actress served two months in prison in 2020 for her role in the college admissions scandal at the University of Southern California.
