Sir Rod Stewart‘s wife Penny Lancaster has offered a reassuring health update regarding her husband, following his recent medical procedure.

After the legendary musician was forced to cancel the remainder of his scheduled concert dates to undergo a routine heart operation, his wife confirmed that he is on a promising path toward recovery.

Stewart has suffered multiple health challenges in recent times, and has had to cancel multiple shows on account of his health.

Lancaster provided an encouraging status report regarding her 81-year-old husband, Stewart, who recently underwent a routine coronary stent procedure to clear blocked cardiac arteries.

Addressing his condition, the 55-year-old television personality expressed confidence in his upcoming comeback, sharing that her spouse is feeling energized and eager to perform again.

Lancaster noted the difficulty of keeping the energetic performer rested, explaining that his high-octane stage presence places significant physical demands on his body. She recounted clarifying his routine to his medical team, saying, “I did have to explain to the doctor what Rod’s performances are like.”

“He doesn’t just sit down on a stool or behind a piano, he runs around for nearly two hours with four different costume changes because he’s sweating through everything,” she added, per Daily Mail.

Lancaster further added that Stewart currently feels a renewed sense of vigor. She gave fans a glimmer of hope, saying, “He’s going to come back stronger than ever. I found it hard enough as it was to slow him down, so now he feels like he’s got a new lease of life.”

Before the optimistic update from Lancaster, The Blast detailed a health scare that led to Stewart stepping away from the stage.

After undergoing a successful routine coronary stent procedure to clear blocked arteries, representatives confirmed the 81-year-old rock icon was recovering smoothly and resuming daily activities.

However, his medical team advised a mandatory four-week resting period to regain physical strength before taking on demanding concerts.

The required recovery period forced Stewart to cancel remaining tour stops scheduled through September 3, along with his six-night residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

In a statement, Stewart expressed heartfelt gratitude to his medical team while noting that he was “looking forward” to getting back on stage.

Leading up to his eventual tour pause, Stewart experienced earlier disruptions during his summer performance schedule due to sudden health needs.

Before opting out of his remaining dates, the 81-year-old musician faced immediate physical concerns that halted his live schedule. According to The Blast, fans received a postponement alert just hours before showtime.

The hosting location released an official update that stated, “Due to an unforeseen but minor medical procedure that required prompt attention, Rod Stewart’s performance tonight in Cincinnati at Riverbend Music Center has been POSTPONED.”

Connecting to his positive recovery momentum, Stewart was recently seen enjoying an energetic public outing that offered fans further reassurance following his medical hiatus.

Shortly after announcing his temporary hiatus from performing to recover from heart surgery, he delighted supporters by attending a live sporting event in Scotland.

He joined his 20-year-old son to root for his long-beloved team, Celtic FC, during their UEFA Champions League playoff match against Austrian club LASK.

Looking healthy, the musician was captured actively cheering from the stands alongside fellow supporters as Celtic built an impressive 2–0 lead before the halftime whistle.

Notably, the lively appearance at the stadium served as a comforting sign for fans concerned about his health, per The Blast.

Although fans remained largely concerned for Stewart’s health, they also voiced disappointment in the singer’s actions after spotting him at a World Cup event shortly after canceling a live concert.

According to The Blast, Stewart later spoke out to clarify his decision. He explained that he felt a strong personal obligation to travel for the game alongside his sons, Liam and Alastair, rather than attending for his own personal gratification.

“I really shouldn’t have gone to the Haiti game. I had to cancel a show the night before because I just had no voice left “ he said.

“But the truth is… I wasn’t going to let my two sons down. I promised them since they were born that we’re going to go to a World Cup, and this is the first one that’s come about,” he added.

While recognizing that the decision “wasn’t a good look,” the legendary rocker maintained that fulfilling a long-standing promise to his children remained his primary priority.
