This is Tour Diary, where artists give us a behind-the-scenes look at life on the road. All year long, Momma have been riding the high of 2025’s Welcome to My Blue Sky, a deeply hooky, coming-of-age album that peers into heartbreak, touring life, and friendship. During its promotional cycle, vocalist/guitarist Allegra Weingarten told an interviewer, “I think we just got better at songwriting. I’m trying to deflect a lot of the assumptions that we sat down and were like, ‘We’re going to make a pop record. We’re going to make radio hits.’ In a way, the record sounds like that, but that wasn’t because we were trying to do it.” Indeed, Welcome to My Blue Sky really does sound like that. It’s got grunge-y odes to Ohio, throwbacks to ’90s MTV, and isn’t afraid to get a little nü metal — all while sounding true to themselves. The album brought them their own headlining tour, slots with Courtney Barnett, and appearances at countless festivals.

Before they go on tour with Basement next month, Momma took us through some of the highlights from their current run. That included eating oysters in the dark, catching a Trixie Mattel DJ set, and celebrating bassist/producer Aron Kobayashi Ritch’s birthday. See for yourself below.
