India captain Suryakumar Yadav displayed his trademark humour at a press conference following India’s match against Oman in Abu Dhabi, delivering a hilarious response that left everyone in the press box amused ahead of the crucial Super Four encounter against Pakistan in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025.

Suryakumar Yadav’s funny remark before Pakistan match

When a reporter suggested that the tournament was heading into its business end, Suryakumar responded with characteristic wit: “Arre dada, abhi to chalu hua hai yaar, business end kaise ho gaya?” (The tournament just started, how is it business end already). This lighthearted exchange perfectly captured the Indian captain’s relaxed demeanor despite the mounting pressure of the high-profile clash scheduled for Sunday in Dubai.

Team India completed the group stage with three commanding wins maintaining a perfect record. Suryakumar credited meticulous training camps and match simulations for their momentum. “Preparations have been excellent we had three good games so we are focusing on what we can do best,” he said urging teammates to treat each contest as fresh despite past victories.

India’s bowling department boasts tournament leading wicket taker Kuldeep Yadav who grabbed eight scalps at an economy rate of just over six runs per over. The wrist spinner also created history by taking four wickets in under 15 balls in an Asia Cup T20 innings demonstrating India’s spin strength early in Dubai’s spin-friendly conditions.

India-Pakistan rivalry renewed amid handshake controversy

This Super Four showdown carries added weight after India’s group match win over Pakistan was marred by a handshake snub that sparked diplomatic complaints. Suryakumar dedicated that victory to victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and Indian armed forces reiterating solidarity beyond sport. Pakistan coach lodged formal protests over the on-field gestures yet Suryakumar insisted: “I see a packed crowd and tell my team it’s time to entertain them not think about rivalry,” underlining his team’s single-minded focus on cricket.

In their group meeting India chased down 128 in just 15.5 overs with Suryakumar top-scoring an unbeaten 47 off 37 balls. History favours the chasing side in India-Pakistan T20Is as they have won eight of the last nine encounters batting second leaving Pakistan seeking redemption in Dubai’s high-voltage atmosphere.

Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha vowed his bowlers are ready to counter India’s batting firepower. However his own side faces uncertainty after opener Saim Ayub recorded three ducks and Pakistan managed only 128 in the earlier contest. This contrast of form and confidence ensures the Super Four match will deliver intense drama for cricket fans worldwide.

With both teams brimming with talent and hunger this India-Pakistan Super Four clash promises to renew one of cricket’s greatest rivalries and prove whether India’s perfect run can survive another high-stakes test.
