Toronto-based indie developer Soft Rains has confirmed that its acclaimed narrative adventure game Ambrosia Sky will conclude with Act Two later this year.
Act One debuted on PC in November to strong critical acclaim, with Soft Rains noting it was the first instalment in a planned trilogy of chapters. Now, the developer has revealed that the three-act arc has been condensed into a two-part series. In a statement, studio head Joel Burgess said this pivot allows the team to “focus fully on crafting a cohesive and satisfying finale.” In addition to concluding the story, Act Two will introduce new missions, new exo-fungus encounters, progression upgrades and more.
Soft Rains says those who have purchased Act One will receive Act Two as a free update as a “thank you” to early supporters. Meanwhile, the base price of the game will be increased to reflect the complete experience. In the meantime, the current $19.49 price is discounted to $16.57 (15 per cent off) until March 13.
Ambrosia Sky follows a woman named Dalia as she returns to her colony, which has been overrun by an alien ecosystem. Using chemical agents, she’ll have to carve a path through the fungi to uncover the dark secret that devastated her home. Along the way, she’ll have to pay tribute to those who have been lost.
The game has garnered praised for its atmosphere, “death positive” narrative and mix of PowerWash Simulator-style first-person spraying gameplay and Metroid Prime-esque sci-fi vibes.
