Former Nickelodeon star Amanda Bynes is opening up about her recent weight loss of nearly 30 pounds. In a post to her Instagram Stories, Bynes, best known for her work on “The Amanda Show” and “She’s the Man,” shared a paparazzi snap of herself out and about, expressing her pleasant surprise at the photo. The secret to her dramatic transformation? Bynes says it’s all thanks to one tool.

On Monday, December 22, Bynes told her 600,000 Instagram followers that she was feeling extra special these days after seeing a recent paparazzi photo of herself. “I usually don’t like paparazzi pictures [because] I was 180lbs, but now I’ve lost 28lbs on ozempic!” The 39-year-old went on, “I’m down to 152lbs. I know I still look big, but this photo is really inspiring to me!”

This isn’t the first time Bynes has gotten candid about her desire to lose weight. According to The Blast, the former actress shared a clip on her social media in the summer of 2025, revealing she’d planned to use the medication to reach her goals. “Oh, I’m going on Ozempic. So excited. I’m 173 now, so I hope to get down to like 130, which would be awesome, so I look better in paparazzi pictures.”

Throughout 2025, Bynes has debuted several new looks, from hairdos to cosmetic procedures. In another story reported by The Blast, in an August social media post, Bynes got real about her new lip fillers.

A month before that, the “All That” star revealed she had gotten a new set of grillz after discovering she couldn’t wear “tooth gems” because she had veneers. “I can’t wear tooth gems because I have veneers; they don’t stick on my teeth, so this is my way of having tooth gems,” she said.

It’s no secret that Bynes has gone through her fair share of public struggles since being charged with a DUI in 2012. Since then, Bynes has occasionally sparked public concern due to her social media posts and seemingly impulsive decision-making. In November 2025, the “Big Fat Liar” performer responded to new claims suggesting she’d been impregnated by her former Nickelodeon boss, Dan Schneider. According to The Blast, Bynes warned her followers not to believe the “lies” being shared about her, then stated she’s reached out to various social media platforms for help.

While Bynes has stayed out of the public eye for the most part over the last decade, she is mentioned by other Nickelodeon icons from time to time. In a previous interview covered by The Blast, Drake Bell, who worked with the actress on the network from 1999 to 2002, revealed he hadn’t spoken with her in “many, many years.”

“When I first started working with her on ‘The Amanda Show,’ I grew up with her on ‘All That,’ so getting to work on ‘The Amanda Show,’ I felt like I was getting to work with Gilda Radner,” Bell said. “This is incredible, she’s a huge star to me at 12 years old, and then working together, we had an instant connection, and we were able to establish and create wonderful characters together.”

Bell, who starred in his own Nickelodeon sitcom, “Drake & Josh,” continued, “We played off each other so well. We ended up having a really great bond working together, and I learned so much from her.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Bell recalled what it was like to work with Bynes on such a successful series, saying he saw the “talent just ooze out of her.” He went even further, giving the actress the ultimate compliment. “It’s so rare in this industry [to find] someone like Dean Martin, like Elvis, like Lucille Ball. It’s this effortless, you know, some people are funny, but you can see them working, and with [Amanda] it was like Lucille Ball. It was just natural.”

Regarding Bynes’ public perception, the “Found a Way” singer implied he doesn’t pay much attention to the headlines. “It’s really difficult [to know] because [of] the media spin,” he said. “Unfortunately, we’ve chosen a profession that puts us in that position, so I take with a grain of salt what gets the clicks and what people know will get them views.”
