For years, fans have followed Mike Wolfe and his Antique Archaeology store on History’s American Pickers. Recently, however, some customers took issue with items being sold at the store, over the price of some items, among other issues. That said, some fans painted a different picture of the store.
Mike Wolfe’s Antique Archaeology Is Based In LeClaire, Iowa, After A Nashville Store Closed In 2025
First starting in 2010, History’s American Pickers has seen Mike Wolfe travel throughout the country with a co-host in search of lost treasure within American antiques. Recently, fans also saw him become a storyteller of sorts with the show’s spin-off, History’s Greatest Picks with Mike Wolfe.
Through the show, viewers were also introduced to Wolfe’s shop, Antique Archaeology, in LeClaire, Iowa. A second shop, based in Nashville, Tennessee, closed last year.
On social media, customers have been known at times to take issue with prices at the store. Similar complaints were once again sparked after more expensive merchandise was recently added to the website.
One item listed was a graphic tee from a 1993 Washington, D.C. Mini-Convention for The Rocky Horror Picture Show. This was priced at $315.00.
Some Customers Defended The American Pickers Star While Others Criticized The Merch
Other T-shirts were also listed above the $100 level. This also included 1977 Frank-N-Furter Rocky Horror Show shirt, which cost $231.00.
T-shirts weren’t the only pricey items listed at the store. Other pricey items included a Three Feather Turquoise Bracelet valued at $365.00 and Larsen Postcards Collection listed at $222.00.

As noted by The U.S. Sun, a few took to social media to criticize the store’s prices. Citing Google, one person was quoted, “I am not sure who could afford the outrageous prices for these collectable items.” Others also shared the complaint that some items weren’t antiques, such as American Pickers merchandise.
However, others also defended the store, with some saying that they enjoyed the experience the store offered. Others also took to defending Wolfe more directly. Some comments included:
- “To be REALLY honest, the Antique Archaeology shop in LeClaire is kind of a tourist trap… But it’s a cool tourist trap if you’re a fan of American Pickers…!”
- “Really enjoyed my time here! Lots of neat and unusual items to browse through, cute vintage items, and souvenir style shopping if you’re a big fan of the show.”
- “Mike is just as friendly on person as he is on TV, and so are the people that work there.”
- “I am not sure who could afford the outrageous prices for these collectable items.”
- “I love the show. Would love to have visited the store when it was an actual antique store. It is now more of a gift shop.”
- “Overpriced items, or ‘Not for Sale’ items……mostly self-promoting things are available for purchase….NOT what I expected.”
