The comedian/actress gave fans a little insight about her life in honor of the last night of Hanukkah, which she celebrated with Israeli actress and activist Noa Tishby.

Amy Schumer’s confessions come amid her shocking split from her longtime husband, Chris Fischer. The former couple tied the knot in February 2018 and welcomed one son before announcing their split in December 2025.

“I love Hanukkah. I was always really excited about it. Every time we light the candles, I feel like we’ve won,” Schumer raved in a joint Instagram post with Tishby. She recalled facing antisemitism while growing up and told the host that the challenges gave her family the best way to overcome them.

“When things are the absolute worst, that’s when my family is the funniest,” Schumer revealed. “Just when we hit rock bottom is when we can laugh the hardest. And I think that that’s not unique to me. I think that’s like a Jewish characteristic.”

Although Schumer learned to use humor to overcome the antisemitism she faced as a child, it has become her greatest shield, particularly amid her divorce from Fischer. The Blast reported that she confirmed the end of her 7-year marriage on Instagram.

The “Trainwreck” star also shut down the narrative that claimed she was ending things with Fischer because of her weight loss transformation. On the same note, Schumer stressed that her marriage didn’t end because her former beau was sexy enough to “still pull some hot tail.”
