Anderson Cooper First Joined 60 Minutes As A Correspondent In 2006
As a journalist, Cooper has worked with a number of networks over the years. He started her career with Channel One News in the early 90s. Finishing out the decade with ABC News, he joined CNN in 2001.
Through the network, Cooper became the host of his namesake news broadcast show. Anderson Cooper 360°. In 2006, he joined CBS News’ 60 Minutes as a correspondent.
However, news has come out that Copper is leaving 60 Minutes. This comes out amid the fallout over the recent shakeup at CBS News following Bari Weiss being installed as editor-in-chief.
According to reports, Cooper has reportedly passed on a new contract with CBS and will leave the show. Early reports had claimed that Cooper told staff at CBS that he wanted to place his focus on CNN for the time being. At this time, he also works with podcasts, “All There Is with Anderson Cooper” and “The Whole Story.”
Cooper Also Shared One Special Reason Behind The Move
Cooper himself has since shared a statement with Deadline over the news. It read, “Being a correspondent at 60 Minutes has been one of the great honors of my career. I got to tell amazing stories, and work with some of the best producers, editors, and camera crews in the business. ”
During the statement, Cooper also alluded to wanting to focus more of his time on his family. He continued, “For nearly twenty years, I’ve been able to balance my jobs at CNN and CBS. But I have little kids now and I want to spend as much time with them as possible, while they still want to spend time with me.”

According to the outlet, Breaker, an email newsletter that first reported the news, claimed that Cooper’s final segment aired this past Sunday. This story, at the time, focused on Ken Burns.
While it was believed he wouldn’t return for the fall season, other reports claimed that Cooper was expected to remain on the show as it finished its current season. It was also noted that Cooper signed a new deal with CNN late last year, allowing him to stay with the network.
