With the release of iOS 27 approaching, Apple has plans to announce a new standalone enhanced Siri app, according to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg. Apple is reportedly testing a standalone Siri app with a new interface, with a new “Ask Siri” button to make the virtual AI assistant more visible and accessible across all Apple products.
According to the Bloomberg report, this new Siri app is expected to be unveiled on June 8 as part of Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference.
This new upgrade will accompany the new iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and MacOS 27 launch later on this year. Apple was previously able to secure a deal with Google to utilize Gemini’s AI model to upgrade both the upcoming Siri standalone app and Apple Intelligence. Apple has not released any of these features just yet, but they are expected to be announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference. The report states that Apple has plans to reinvent Siri to be more similar to other AI assistant software, such as ChatGPT and Claude.
The new AI assistant is expected to have a new look as well. Gurman’s report says the following:
“One new design in testing places Siri at the top of the screen within the Dynamic Island, the mini-interface that Apple introduced in 2022. After it’s activated, Siri will prompt the user to Search or Ask. When processing a request, a pill-shaped indicator labelled “Searching” appears, alongside a glowing Siri icon. Once results are ready, the interface expands into a larger translucent panel with Apple’s Liquid Glass design. Users can pull the menu down further to begin conversing back and forth.”
