Apple is reportedly considering a darker colourway for its next iPhone Pro models.
According to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman, the tech giant is testing a “deep red” for the upcoming handsets. Notably, rumours have suggested that this device lineup, the iPhone 18 family, will be split up between this year and next. This means that the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, which may be deep red, would drop during the usual September iPhone window alongside Apple’s long-rumoured foldable phone. Following that, the lower-cost iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e are expected to drop in the spring.
Last year, Apple went with Cosmic Orange for the iPhone 17 series, driven in part by the colour’s popularity in China. That said, Apple has released some red iPhones before, but the last time was the iPhone 14 series in 2022. Therefore, it might be time for a refresh.
Word on the red iPhone was part of Gurman’s larger Bloomberg piece about Apple’s impending hardware and software plans. This includes a series of events from March 2 to 4 to showcase several new products, including a low-cost MacBook, an entry-level iPad Air with an M4 chip and the iPhone 17e.
