The Atlanta Falcons have acquired Canadian defensive back Sydney Brown in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles, according to ESPN insider Adam Schefter.
In addition to Brown, the Falcons received the 122nd overall pick in the fourth round and the 215th overall pick in the sixth round of the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft. In exchange, the Eagles moved up in both of those rounds, acquiring picks 114 and 197.
Brown, who turns 26 tomorrow, played 17 games for the Eagles in 2025, making three starts. He was credited with 34 total tackles on the year.
The London, Ont., native was originally selected in the third round, 66th overall, during the 2023 NFL Draft. He has appeared in 42 career games with Philadelphia, making 86 total tackles, one tackle for loss, two forced fumbles, five pass breakups, two interceptions, and scoring a defensive touchdown.
Brown has also dressed for five playoff games and recorded seven tackles, winning Super Bowl LIX with the Eagles. He became the 18th Canadian player in NFL history to hoist the Lombardi Trophy.
The University of Illinois product is the identical twin brother of Cincinnati Bengals’ running back Chase Brown.
Brown has one year remaining on his rookie contract, which will bring his NFL earnings up to $5.7 million if he sticks on the roster for the duration of the year. Brown was not selected in the 2023 CFL Draft, but the Toronto Argonauts currently hold his exclusive CFL rights by way of the negotiation list.
The Atlanta Falcons went 8-9 last season, finishing third in the NFC South and missing the playoffs.
