In a high-stakes moment during the 4th T20I between Australia and India at Carrara, Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed for 20 runs off 10 balls. The right-hander, known for his aggressive style, was unable to get a proper connection with a length delivery from Xavier Bartlett. This wicket came at a crucial stage, with India struggling to find momentum. Suryakumar, who had looked in control early, pulled across the line but only managed to top-edge it towards deep backward square leg.

Tim David’s ice cream celebration after Suryakumar Yadav’s dismissal in the AUS vs IND 4th T20I

The ball soared high into the air, and Tim David, stationed at deep backward square leg, tracked it meticulously. As the ball came down, David positioned himself perfectly to complete the catch, but it was a nervy moment, with the ball appearing to slip through his fingers for a moment. However, David managed to grasp it at the very edge, securing the vital dismissal. What followed was a memorable and unusual celebration that quickly became a talking point among fans and commentators.

Instead of the typical cricketing fist pump or roar, David turned towards the crowd and cheekily licked the ball as if it were an ice cream cone. This light-hearted moment injected a bit of humor into the otherwise tense atmosphere, with David’s playful antics contrasting sharply with the pressure of the match. His celebration was a hit on social media, with fans appreciating the fun side of the big man, who is usually known for his hard-hitting prowess.

    Here’s the video:

India’s struggles against Australia in the 4th T20I at Carrara

India have set a challenging target of 168 runs in the 4th T20I at Carrara, after being asked to bat first by Australia. Despite a few solid starts from the top order, India’s batting lineup couldn’t manage to capitalize and reach a total that would have put Australia under significant pressure. Shubman Gill top-scored with a patient 46 runs, but his dismissal was a critical blow to India’s momentum. Abhishek Sharma contributed a handy 28, while Shivam Dube and Suryakumar Yadav struggled to get going, both falling cheaply. Washington Sundar and Axar Patel, however, provided a late surge with some quick runs in the final overs. The wicket saw several collapses in the middle, leaving India with a total of 167/8 after their 20 overs.

The Australian bowlers, led by Xavier Bartlett and Nathan Ellis, put in disciplined performances to stifle India’s middle-order. Bartlett claimed a key wicket, removing Suryakumar, while Ellis was the standout bowler, bagging three crucial wickets, including Shubman Gill, Shivam Dube and Washington Sundar. Adam Zampa, though expensive, managed to scalp three wickets, adding to the pressure on the Indian batting lineup. Australia’s fielding was sharp, with key catches taken by David and others. As the match heads towards the second innings, Australia’s bowling attack will be pleased with their work so far and they will be looking to chase down the target with a calculated approach.
