SHERMAN, Texas (AP) — Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang — whose work helped enable artificial intelligence — stressed in an Associated Press interview Tuesday that society has no choice but to change in the advent of AI. Huang has been optimistic about the technology’s potential to rapidly change society, creating faster economic growth and more scientific breakthroughs. But as the head of a computer chip company now developing AI systems, Huang has felt obligated to respond to critics who warn of job losses and threats to humanity itself. “We need to create new social norms,” Huang said in an interview. “I…
BUCHAREST: Palme d’or winner Fjord by Romanian helmer Cristian Mungiu scored 43,440 admissions at its unique avant-premiere, held on 13 June 2026 at 7p.m. on 315 screens in 96 cinemas from 53 Romanian towns. Only in Bucharest, the film had 16,000 admissions. The film had a huge response from local audiences as tens of thousands of tickets were sold in the first 24 hours. The screening was a partnership between Mungiu’s Voodoo Films and Forum Film, one of the biggest distributors in Romania. This is a premiere for an art house film in a country where, since 2020, the only domestic films…
SpaceX briefly passed Amazon to become the fifth-most valuable company in the world, and nearly eclipsed Microsoft, before the company’s shares pared back those gains before the market closed Tuesday. The newly-public company’s stock had already climbed 20% on Monday — its first full day of trading. Tuesday’s news that SpaceX was acquiring AI coding company Cursor, along with the start of options trading on SpaceX’s shares, sent the share price even higher, spiking its valuation to $2.9 trillion before it ultimately settled back down. This is all despite the fact that SpaceX posted a $4.9 billion loss on $18.7…
France head into half-time drawing 0-0 with Senegal in their opening World Cup clash, but Les Bleus are lucky not to be behind. As one of the tournament favourites, Didier Deschamps’ men were expected to start fast, but instead they have been met by a well-drilled and dangerous Senegal side. The former AFON champions – who had their title stripped after chaos in the final with Morocco – sat back and absorbed plenty of pressure from their opponents, but looked dangerous on the counter-attack. Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson looked particularly sharp, and had one of the best chances of the…
Simone Biles is making it clear that she will update followers on her self-described near-death experience on her own time. “Not ready to talk about it just yet,” Biles, 29, wrote via Instagram after a follower commented on a recent post that they “never got the update on [her] near death experience.” The Olympic gymnast revealed on June 6 that she was recovering from a scary incident, though she didn’t go into details about what happened. “I’m not one to normally share things like this because I value privacy in today’s age. But almost dying wasn’t on my bingo card…
The Brewers announced that they have recalled infielder Cooper Pratt, a move that was reported a couple of days ago. In a corresponding move, infielder Luis Rengifo has been designated for assignment. Milwaukee took a bounceback flier on Rengifo in the offseason. He had a solid run with the Angels from 2022 to 2024, slashing .273/.323/.431 for a 111 wRC+ while playing every position except for first base and the battery. He had a downturn at the plate in 2025, hitting just .238/.287/.335 for a 73 wRC+. That was particularly poor timing, as that swoon occurred just before he became…
A judge ruled Tuesday that transgender people won’t face criminal charges for using Idaho public restrooms that match their gender identities. The ruling from U.S. District Judge Amanda Brailsford puts on hold enforcement of key components of a law adopted in March – and set to take effect July 1 – that went further than laws in other states to restrict which bathrooms transgender people can use in public places, including privately owned places where restrooms are open to the public. “This ruling will allow transgender people throughout Idaho to find and use a public restroom,” Lambda Legal lawyer Kell…
As artificial intelligence disrupts the workplace, there are still two human traits every employee needs to succeed, according to Canva’s chief people officer, Jennie Rogerson. Rogerson shared those traits at Charter’s New Employer Brand Summit last week in New York City. “Curiosity is a baseline,” she said. In addition to curiosity, Rogerson called out the ability to “go the extra mile” in taking initiative (and responsibility) to help out the team beyond one’s job description. In practical terms, that could mean getting an advanced certificate in your field or bringing soft skills into the workplace. Career coaches and industry experts…
