OTTAWA — A federal review report says members of the military and key spy agencies should be able to expose wrongdoing and file complaints through the government’s whistle-blowing regime. The recommendation is among almost three dozen suggested changes in the newly released review of the Public Servants Disclosure Protection Act. The report says improvements are “urgently needed” to the law, which allows federal employees to make a disclosure of wrongdoing or file a complaint of reprisal with the public sector integrity commissioner. The Canadian Armed Forces, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service and the Communications Security Establishment, Canada’s cyberspy agency, are…
ComfyUI, a startup that helps creators control image, video, and audio outputs from diffusion models with a node-based workflow, has raised a $30 million funding round at a $500 million valuation. The round was led by Craft Ventures, with participation from other investors including Pace Capital, Chemistry, and TruArrow. ComfyUI was started as an open-source project in 2023 shortly after the introduction of diffusion models. At that time, models like Midjourney and OpenAI’s DALL-E were barely functional, frequently making major mistakes, such as adding extra fingers to hands. To address these limitations, the project founders developed a modular framework that…
Photo courtesy: CFL. The Canadian Football League has fined the Ottawa Redblacks for exceeding the 2025 salary expenditure cap. The Redblacks will be forced to pay $18,002 for their violation, a dollar-for-dollar amount equal to the team’s overage of the limit. The violation does not impact the selection order for the 2026 CFL Canadian Draft on April 28. Ottawa did not parlay its extra spending into on-field success, as the team finished in last place with a 4-14 record and missed the playoffs. Head coach Bob Dyce was fired after the season, and the franchise has since brought in Ryan…
