As France continues to rise to the top of travellers’ wish lists, Avalon Waterways is responding, announcing a strategic refinement to its France river cruise portfolio, confirming that the Avalon Artistry II will reposition to the Seine River beginning in 2027, following the completion of Bordeaux sailings through the 2026 season.
The company says the move strengthens capacity in one of Europe’s highest-demand river corridors, where Paris and Normandy sailings remain among Avalon’s strongest performers.
Pam Hoffee, president of Avalon Waterways, said that: “Avalon is committed to growing with purpose. That means listening closely to our guests and aligning our fleet of Suite Ships with destinations where river cruising delivers the greatest depth, diversity and demand. France continues to outperform, particularly along the Seine, and we’re making moves to support that momentum for guests.”
France remains a cornerstone of Avalon’s European offerings, with consistently strong bookings across the Seine and Rhône Rivers. From Monet’s gardens to the beaches of Normandy to Burgundy’s vineyards and Provence’s culinary markets, Avalon’s French river cruises offer distinct – and complementary – experiences within one country.
Increasingly, travellers are pairing multiple French rivers for deeper immersion, drawn by the country’s seamless blend of wine, cuisine, culture and countryside.
Introduced in 2025, Avalon’s Bordeaux itinerary along the Garonne and Dordogne Rivers was designed to deliver an intimate exploration of France’s celebrated wine region. The experience has resonated strongly with wine-focused travellers seeking a boutique, vineyard-centered journey.
Avalon will continue offering Bordeaux sailings as planned through the 2026 season, ensuring guests who have booked – or who wish to experience the region – can do so with confidence and with a robust range of included Avalon Choice Excursions.
Beginning in 2027, the 128-passenger Avalon Artistry II will transition to the Seine, expanding capacity where broader demand continues to accelerate, reinforcing Avalon’s philosophy of intentional growth and thoughtful portfolio evolution.
With Bordeaux sailings available through 2026 and expanded Seine capacity beginning in 2027, Avalon continues to strengthen its presence in one of Europe’s most enduring and dynamic destinations.
Said Hoffee: “When guests show us where they want to go, we meet them there. Right now, that place is France – specifically sailing along the Seine and Rhône Rivers.”
