Since Bari Weiss became the editor-in-chief at CBS News, viewers have seen a number of changes occur at the network. This includes figures leaving as well as taking on new roles at the network. However, reports have come out that Weiss might be eyeing one figure to join the network in particular: Joe Rogan.
Insiders Shared Why Bari Weiss Might Be Interested In Joe Rogan
Rogan, who started his career in Boston before moving to Los Angeles, has a background as a comedian and an actor. He is also known as the host of Fear Factor from 2001 to 2006.
For many, Rogan is known for hosting his namesake podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. Initially debuting in 2009, Rogan’s show has seen many well-known guests, including Elon Musk, Bernie Sanders, Neil deGrasse Tyson, and President Donald Trump. Recently, reports have come out suggesting that current CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss is considering another role for Rogan to put on his resume.
In a recent share from Rob Shuter’s “Naughty But Nice” Substack, one source explained why Weiss would have an interest in Rogan. They shared, “Bari respects disruptors. Joe built a global platform without legacy media. That matters to her.”
Sources Weighed In On Why Rogan Would Be Interested In Working With The Network
Another source hinted that Weiss feels that Rogan could add something new to the network. They shared, “They want oxygen in the room. Not someone preaching to the choir. They’re looking for reach.”
However, there is also the issue of whether or not Rogan would be interested in taking a job with CBS News. On the one hand, it’s unlikely that the job would come with any financial benefits. As another source noted, he appears to make more as a podcaster than with anything CBS is expected to offer.
However, Rogan still might be interested in taking a CBS News job to be “accepted by the people who hate him.” Another source suggested he could also be interested in “reshaping” the network.
Notably, this comes out after Anderson Cooper recently announced his own resignation from CBS News’ 60 Minutes, though he is expected to continue working with CNN. At the time, Cooper had alluded to wanting to spend more time with his family. As previously reported, however, sources have suggested that the move might not have fully been his choice. Once again speaking with Shuter’s Substack, an insider suggested that the move was “pushed.”
