CBS’ editor-in-chief, Bari Weiss, recently slammed her staff as she plans an overhaul. She feels that her employees have failed the public and have not given them what they wanted. Therefore, a new era must be ushered in. Keep reading for more on what Bari has planned for the future to keep things rolling in an effective manner.
Bari Weiss Slammed CBS Staff
In October 2025, Bari Weiss was named the editor-in-chief of CBS News. This was a huge honor but also a massive undertaking. It came with so much responsibility, and she knew that there were many changes she would have to make. One of the biggest alterations was figuring out how CBS News could work with the changing times. Does it make sense in 2026 and the 21st century? The world is not the same as it was a decade ago, and Bari is very much aware of this.
That being said, Bari has a lot of decisions to make. She noted that it is up to everyone at CBS News to hold themselves accountable. Furthermore, the editor-in-chief allegedly added:
“We are not producing a product that enough people want. We can blame demographics or technology or fractured attention spans or ‘news avoidance’ — but these are all copes.”
So, how do things get better as opposed to worse? Moreover, how does Bari ensure success in the long run now that she has taken over? She wants to find a way to get the news out to those who expect everything to be done in an expeditious manner. They do not have time to wait or waste, but Bari Weiss did make one thing clear. In the midst of everything, she is aiming to earn trust, not just demand it.
This is exactly what Farmington, Connecticut, native Tony Dokoupil said to his viewers when he became the anchor at CBS Evening News. He wanted viewers to have faith in him, but that has been somewhat of a struggle.
Whatever It Takes
As of now, Bari Weiss is doing whatever it takes to ensure that CBS News reigns supreme. It is a challenge, especially in a social media-driven climate. Moreover, Bari has allegedly been emphatic that the current administration should be featured a lot more. This has not always sat well with those who were diehard CBS viewers and Tony Dokoupil’s wife. She is extremely liberal and has made her living as a journalist of that nature. However, she can see the impact that Bari Weiss has had on the network and her husband, and that has caused quite a divide.
Do you believe that Bari Weiss will make CBS News better, or will she ultimately drive it into the ground? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
