Good news for all Virgin Mobile customers, Bell confirmed its flanker brand’s 5G service will also come to existing users.

In a statement to MobileSyrup, both existing and new customers will benefit from the rollout of the service, which will start this month and will be completed in May. MobileSyrup inquired about specific start and end dates, but Bell did not provide an answer prior to publication.

Here is the company’s full statement:

“We are pleased to confirm that, in addition to new customers, existing Virgin Plus customers will also benefit from 5G nationwide at no additional cost — delivering fast, reliable connectivity from coast to coast.”

Bell’s announcement comes after it relaunched 5G service on Virgin Plus last week. Virgin previously offered 5G plans in 2023, but later removed them.

At the time, Bell said it was “evaluating” whether it would bring 5G to existing customers, saying in a statement that “We recognize huge value in being on a 5G network and we’re always evaluating opportunities to improve our Virgin customer experience.”

A couple of days before Bell relaunched 5G on Virgin, Rogers-owned Fido officially launched 5G for the first time. As part of the launch, Rogers announced it would upgrade all Fido customers to 5G service at no additional cost.

Telus-owned Koodo also previously offered 5G plans in 2023, removed them in 2024, then brought them back in 2025. However, Koodo caps its 5G speeds to 250Mbps (5ooMbps with the speed boost perk), making it slower than Virgin and Fido, which offer 5G speeds up to 1Gbps.
