If you heard Ben Quad’s Wisher, you’ll recognize the indelible touch of Third Eye Blind. The LP was replete with the kind of beaming hooks and wailing pop-rock sensibility that TEB perfected from the jump with their self-titled debut. Recently, the Oklahoma emo group paid tribute again by sharing an acoustic cover of “Never Let You Go” from 1999’s Blue.
“Third Eye Blind, to me, are one of those bands that reach across time and genre, and they were a huge inspiration growing up,” vocalist Sam Wegrzynski tells AP. “They were also a big influence for a lot of the melodies and vocal cadences on our most recent album. It felt like the perfect time to show appreciation in our own way. It also helps that their songs are very fun to play.”
