Fans know that actress Daphnée Duplaix has already been facing a health crisis on Beyond the Gates through her character, Nicole. However, taking to social media, the actress herself recently touched on a health struggle she is facing in real life. Since then, a few of her co-stars have also been sharing their reactions to her share on social media.
Daphnée Duplaix Has Been Part Of A Number Of Famous Soaps, From Passions To Beyond The Gates
In addition to working as a model, Duplaix has had a prominent career in soap operas. In 2004, she joined the cast of Passions, playing Valerie Davis. She later played Rachel Gannon on One Life to Live.
In 2024, it was announced that Duplaix would be making her return to the world of soaps. The following year, CBS viewers saw her take on the role of Nicole Dupree Richardson on Beyond the Gates.
Recently on the show, Duplaix’s character, Nicole, is dealing with her mother Anita’s health struggles as she undergoes treatment for breast cancer. In real life, however, Duplaix recently took to Instagram to open up about health issues of her own, noting that she would be undergoing surgery.
Sharing a photo of herself at the Beyond the Gates studio, Duplaix wrote, “Today, after work, I’m having surgery — and I’m calling it exactly what it is…Reclaiming my uterus.” She continued, “This is a PSA. Please read it.”
Duplaix Asked That Fans Take Her Share As A PSA
The actress shared, “Four years ago, a doctor told me my only option was a full hysterectomy. I said no. I waited — and that waiting came with real suffering.” These included things ranging from heavy bleeding to a blood transfusion.
Through the help of a friend, “Coach” Gessie Thompson, she was connected to a gynecologist who discovered a polyp. However, Duplaix learned that this was “something that can be removed non-invasively, without taking my uterus.” Notably, Thompson, as well as the “Detox Now” group, also shared the post.
Duplaix then used her story to call on other women to regularly receive checkups. She continued, “Women, please hear me. Fibroids, polyps & cyst grow inside us with no warning and no clear reason. Our bodies are still being researched and studied. Medicine does not always have all the answers, and the first answer you’re given is not always the right one.”
Since sharing her story, Duplaix has received quite a few responses from her Beyond the Gates co-stars, as well as other soap stars. Marquita Goings, Mike Manning, and Colby Nixon all like the post. Meanwhile, The Young and Restless star Valarie Pettiford also wrote, “Sending [boatloads] of love and healing light.”
