It’s a big year for iPhone users. The 17 Pro series has seemed to hit the zenith of the camera cycle set in motion by the iPhone 14 Pro and the new iPhone 17 is just outstanding value. Outside of those phones, there’s a new entry this year in the form of a very thin and very compelling iPhone Air.
When I got down to the mall this morning, it was a little after the doors opened at 8 a.m. and there was still a massive line outside as people queued to get their new phones. If I had to guess, I’d say there were still around a hundred people waiting, meaning there was even more in the 10 or so minutes before I got there.
Inside, people were hovering over the phones as excited chatter filled the space. Truthfully, I wasn’t watching everyone like a hawk, but I did see a lot of people picking up the orange Pro models and looking them over. I even saw one person getting a screen protector installed on an orange Pro. Others were picking up the Air and taking photos of the new thin design.
Overall, it’s always an exciting space as an iPhone nerd. I’m not going to lie — it always takes a lot of self-restraint when I go down there to not pick up a case or a new MagSafe wallet, and the energy in the air today didn’t make that any easier. That said, there were all the new Apple accessories including the cases, the new Crossbody strap (review coming soon lol) and the 40-60-watt dynamic power brick (also testing that, but it will take more time).

If you’re still looking to get a new iPhone this year we’ve got reviews on the 17, the iPhone Air and the 17 Pro line as well as a full breakdown of Canadian pricing.
