Blue Jays fans used 145,000TB of data on Rogers during first three World Series games

Recently, Rogers shared some information about the first three games of the Blue Jays vs Dodgers World Series.

According to the Toronto-based carrier, Canadians across the country “smashed internet data usage records during the first three games.” Rogers Xfinity customers consumed 145,000TB of data during Games 1, 2, and 3, which is equivalent to streaming a three-minute video of the Jays’ Addison Barger hitting a grand slam 1.28 billion times.

Rogers shared the following stats related to its network and the World Series:

    • “During Games 1, 2 and 3, almost half of our TV customers watched the game on Rogers Xfinity TV.”
    • “During Game 3, which lasted 18 innings, our customers used 65,000TB of data on the Rogers wireline network – the equivalent of sharing a photo of Alejandro Kirk hitting a home run 23 billion times.”
    • “During Games 1 and 2, our customers used over 80,000TB on the Rogers wireline network.”
    • “Customers attending Game 1 at Rogers Centre used 6.8TB of wireless data, the highest volume ever at a home game in Toronto.”

Funny enough, with my home’s crappy Bell Wi-Fi, my roommate had to watch Game 3 on his Rogers’ data.

We’re curious to learn more from Rogers about the following games, and we’ve reached out to the carrier for updates when available.

Game 5 of the World Series starts at 8:00pm ET at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California. Learn how to watch tonight’s game here.
