    Burnley 0-0 Bournemouth

Burnley‘s dwindling hopes of Premier League survival were dealt another blow as they were held to a goalless draw at home to Bournemouth.

The hosts’ best chance came at the end of a largely scrappy first 45, when Jaidon Anthony struck the woodwork with a volley in the box.

The lack of quality shown by both sides at Turf Moor continued after the break, although Evanilson went close when his attempt to guide the ball into the far corner from Alex Jimenez’s pass rolled just wide of the post.

The Cherries perhaps should have taken all three points right at the death when David Brooks’s cross picked out Enes Unal but the Turkish striker could not get his effort on target.

The result – Burnley’s 11th at home without a victory – keeps the Clarets’ chances of escaping relegation hanging in the balance, eight points from safety with eight games remaining.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, are in ninth spot and still in with a chance of qualifying for European football next season.

    Sunderland 0-1 Brighton

Brighton moved up to 10th in the table following a narrow victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Jack Hinshelwood squandered several chances for the visitors in what was an otherwise uneventful first half.

Eighteen-year-old Chris Rigg thought he’d bagged his first Premier League goal for the hosts after the break when he beat Bart Verbruggen from a tight angle.

However, Omar Alderete was adjudged to have been offside in the build up and the goal was disallowed.

Sunderland, by this point, had grown into the game, but it was Brighton who took the lead when Yankuba Minteh scooped the ball into the net after Sunderland had failed to deal with a corner.

There was an air of controversy about the goal, with Habib Diarra down injured inside his own penalty when the goal was scored, but it counted and the visitors had the advantage.

Diego Gomez perhaps should have doubled Brighton’s lead when he was found unmarked in the area but he lifted his shot over the bar.

In the end, it mattered little. Brighton held on to pick up an important three points in their push for a top-half finish.

Sunderland drop to 12th having suffered their third home league defeat of the campaign.
