Canadian defensive lineman Lake Korte-Moore has signed a one-year contract extension with the Saskatchewan Roughriders for the 2026 CFL season. He was a pending free agent.
The six-foot-four, 262-pound defender was selected by the team with the third overall pick in the 2023 CFL Draft. The 26-year-old has appeared in 41 regular-season games with Saskatchewan, recording 29 defensive tackles, three special teams stops, and two sacks.
As a rookie, Korte-Moore notched 13 defensive tackles, one sack, one pass knockdown, and one special teams tackle in 18 regular-season games. He played in 16 regular-season games in 2024, recording 14 defensive tackles, including one for loss, one sack, and one fumble recovery.
Last year, Korte-Moore collected two defensive tackles, one fumble recovery, and one special teams tackle in seven games before suffering a torn ACL.
The Ottawa, Ont. native spent four U Sports seasons at the University of British Columbia, making 110 defensive tackles, 23 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, eight pass knockdowns, three forced fumbles, and two interceptions over 34 games with the Thunderbirds. He was a Canada West all-star in 2022 after a breakout season, logging a single-season career-high 48 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, and six sacks.
Korte-Moore participated in the 2023 College Gridiron Showcase and recorded the highest vertical jump among all defensive linemen at the 2023 CFL Combine.
The Roughriders finished first in the West Division standings in 2025 with a 12-6 record, finishing first in the West Division for the first time since 2019. The team went on to defeat the Montreal Alouettes in the 112th Grey Cup in Winnipeg, marking the team’s first championship in 12 years. Trevor Harris went 11-5 as a starter, throwing for 4,549 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
The Roughriders ranked second in net offence, second in net defence, and tied for third with a turnover differential of plus-eight. The team’s leading rusher was A.J. Ouellette with 1,222 yards, leading receiver was KeeSean Johnson with 1,159 yards, and leading tackler was A.J. Allen with 91 tackles. Saskatchewan finished second in attendance with average crowds of 28,427, which was a 2.7 percent increase from the previous year.
