Canadian company WattsApp, not to be confused with Meta’s WhatsApp, is a registered Charging Network Operator under the federal Clean Fuel Regulations program that’s now offering rewards for charging your electric vehicles (EVs) at home.
As part of the company’s goals to reduce carbon emissions, WattsApp is launching the Home Charging Program. Every time you charge your EV from your smart home charger, the company will give you credits, which you can turn into rewards.
The program is currently in a private beta and only works for Tesla vehicle owners. Once you add your Tesla account to the app and link your Gen 3 Wall Connector or the Universal Wall Connector, the app tracks how much energy you’re using. You’ll get three points for every kWh you put into your car, and every 100 points equals a dollar.
You can earn a $250 gift card at 25,000 points, a $500 e-transfer at 50,000 points, and you can get a new Tesla Wall charger after 70,000 points.
This is currently in its beta phase, which will end on Sunday, Feb. 22, but Tesla owners who join the program before the deadline will be able to retain all their points.
You can sign up for WattsApp before the test closes, here. WattsApp isn’t the only way to earn points for charging at home. Canadians can also earn credits from SWTCH Energy, another Canadian company with its own Home Charging Program.
