Charlize Theron and Taron Egerton bring their action star experience as they face off in this adrenaline rush of a film.
Directed by Baltasar Kormákur (Everest) and written by Jeremy Robbins (The Purge series), Apex follows a climber (Theron) whose solo expedition through the Australian wilderness suddenly becomes a battle for survival. After taking travel advice from a seemingly kind stranger (Egerton), she soon finds herself navigating unknown territory as the man hunts her as prey in his twisted cat-and-mouse games.
The film also stars Eric Bana, Caitlin Stasey, Bessie Holland, and Zac Gerrad.
Shot in New South Wales, this film brings the ever-present dangers of Australia’s wilderness to life. Kormákur told TUDUM, “Working in the rugged, beautiful terrains of Australia with three of the world’s most talented, dedicated actors in Charlize Theron, Taron Egerton, and Eric Bana is such a joy — even as I put them through the [ringer] in this unique survivor story.”
Theron is fresh off another Netflix film, The Old Guard 2, whilst Egerton also starred in a hit film for the streamer, 2024’s Carry-On, opposite Jason Bateman.
Synopsis:
A grieving woman testing her limits in the Australian wilderness is suddenly ensnared in a deadly game with a ruthless predator.
