The 40-year-old mom of four took to Instagram on Sunday to reveal she chipped a tooth during a holiday activity with her kids, poking fun at herself after a candy cane mishap quite literally left her smiling a little differently. Teigen shared a video of her children, Luna, 9, Miles, 7, and twins Esti and Wren, 2, participating in a Christmas-themed game that involved filling plant pots with candy canes and crumbled Oreo cookies. The activity, however, didn’t end quite as planned for Chrissy Teigen.

Across multiple photos and clips, Teigen didn’t shy away from showing the stub of her natural tooth, which had previously been covered by a veneer. She even labeled the video “Growing Candy Cane (Gone Wrong),” fully leaning into the chaos of the moment. “I’ve been working on candy cane-growing. I tried to open one of these bad boys … my tooth fell off,” she said, laughing in the video as she showed off her chipped tooth.

She captioned one of her posts, “Merry chrithmath from our family to yours!!!!!!!” jokingly mimicking a lisp as she revealed the dental damage she suffered after attempting to unwrap a piece of candy with her teeth.

The star later documented a visit to the dentist, sharing footage of herself getting the issue fixed and assuring fans the situation was under control. “We are back in business,” she wrote over the clip, giving a shoutout to her dentist. “Shout out to the tooth goat @drlaurencerifkindds.”

Teigen also shared a selfie alongside her eldest daughter, Luna, joking about the brief reunion with her original tooth. “Was cool to say hi to my old tooth for a while hiiii old tooth!” she quipped.

Teigen’s candy cane mishap comes just weeks after she opened up about another scary moment involving her family. Earlier this month, the “Lip Sync Battle” co-host shared that her 2-year-old daughter Esti was on the mend following an accident at home.

In a photo posted to her Instagram Stories, Teigen showed Esti receiving stitches on her chin, offering a glimpse into the stressful situation many parents know all too well. “Hesitant to share this because he will get too busy to give my kids their daily stitches, but @drourian, thank you so much for always saving us,” Teigen wrote at the time. “The traumas for a kid and parent both! We love you so much.”

Teigen has never shied away from discussing the realities of raising a growing family. Back in August 2023, she opened up to PEOPLE about the emotional balancing act that comes with being a mom of four.

“For me, the hardest part is making sure the older ones feel loved and taken care of and just as special as the babies,” Teigen said. “There’s a lot of diaper changing and feeding, and it seems like you’re coddling these two little babies, and they’re not getting enough.”

She went on to explain that the concern is something many parents of multiple children can relate to. “I think any parent of multiple kids can understand that you want to make sure they still feel loved,” she added.
