CNN’s Kaitlan Collins Had A Positive Story To Share
Collins is known for her work with CNN. Throughout her career, she has worked with programs including CNN This Morning and The Source.
Collins notably serves as CNN’s chief White House correspondent. She previously held this role from 2021 to 2022. Being based in Washington, D.C., she holds this position in addition to her other reporting duties.
Recently, Collins appeared on Heather McMahan’s Absolutely Not podcast. At the time, the CNN personality opened up about a positive moment with one member of the White House staff: White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt.
Notably, as previously reported, this comes out after Collins was criticized for having a “bad attitude” by President Donald Trump himself. However, she reflected on a more positive moment during a May 2025 trip when she shouted a question to Trump, asking where he stood alongside other world leaders. This included Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Speaking with McMahan, Collins admitted, “They famously do not like the media there. To put it lightly.” The president didn’t answer the question. However, things took a turn for the worse as people left the room.
According to Collins, a Saudi Royal Guard “freaked out” at her for asking a question. She noted that this was unusual for them, as they were not used to “free press.”
A Few Commentators Praised Collins’ Recent Share On Social Media
Collins shared, “They came up and they said, ‘OK, well you can’t come into the next event,’ which was like two minutes later. And I was like, ‘That’s not how this works. I go into the U.S. press,’ and they were like, ‘Well, you’re not coming in.’”
White House staff reportedly weren’t sure how to handle the situation, ultimately turning to Karoline Leavitt. According to Collins, Leavitt ultimately came to her defense. She shared, “To her credit, she said, ‘No, Kaitlan’s coming in with the rest of the U.S. press,’ and we went in. And, so, it didn’t become this huge issue.”
Collins ultimately felt that Leavitt’s reaction was “important.” It was further noted that, even since returning to the United States, Collins has continued to endure backlash when asking questions as a reporter.
With the podcast shared on YouTube, viewers shared multiple reactions to Collins’ share. A few appreciated that she gave Leavitt credit for the moment. One fan wrote, “Good on her for giving [Karoline] Leavitt credit.”
