Collin Thinks Dad Jon Gosselin’s Wedding Has ‘Different Weight’

Jon recently tied the knot with Stephanie Lebo, and Collin believes the wedding represents a much-needed fresh start for his father. 

Jon’s marriage to Stephanie came over 15 years after he got divorced from Kate Gosselin in a highly publicized split. 

In an interview with “Entertainment Tonight,” Collin candidly acknowledged that he was overwhelmed with happiness when Jon broke the news of his intention to get married again.

“When my dad first told me, I was very happy for him. And my first thought was that he deserves this, as does everybody who finds their person,” he said. 

The 21-year-old business owner shared that his happiness for his father stems from the belief that he deserves to find happiness after everything he has been through.

Seeing his father enter a new chapter gave him an uncanny sense of happiness and freedom, even though it was not his own wedding.  “I guess he really hasn’t had it easy in the past, so it’s good to see this,” he added. 

Collin’s emotions took over as he watched his father and his partner Lebo exchange their marital vows at the altar. While he is not one to cry so easily, the tears flowed freely when he watched his father say, “I do.” 

Collin’s emotions led to an epiphany of sorts, where he realized his father’s second marriage was quite different from any other union. Looking around at the guests who showed up to support Jon, Collin realized that they were all people who stood by his father through thick and thin. 

“I think there is a different weight to this wedding than your traditional wedding just because of all the trials and tribulations,” he said.

“That’s what I was thinking of today. I was like, ‘Wow, this feels more monumental for me, and it’s not my wedding,’ because when I looked at my dad, I saw all the hard things he’s been through with marriage, with everything. For me, I saw all of these things just kind of floating away,” he added.

The tears Collin shed that day were not just happy tears but also tears that came from the realization that his father deserves all the happiness he can get. 

He noted that he was happy to have witnessed the momentous occasion with his sister Hannah. However, a part of him also wished his other siblings could’ve been there to support their father. 

Besides Hannah and Collin, Jon and Kate also welcomed Alexis, Aaden, Leah, Joel, and twins Cara and Mady. However, they were noticeably absent from the wedding, as only Collin and Hannah were in attendance.

Per The Blast, Collin served as a groomsman, while Hannah was also among the 180 guests who gathered in The Barn at Silverstone to witness the marriage. The glaring absence of Jon’s six other children further highlighted how complicated the Gosselins’ family dynamic has been.  

Despite the absence of most of his children, Jon put on a happy face during the wedding and had nothing but adorable things to say about his wife during and after the ceremony. 

Collin’s happy reaction to his father’s wedding is a stark contrast to his reaction to his mother’s new relationship. 

A few months ago, Collin took to his Instagram stories to accuse his mother of claiming that her relationship with her former bodyguard, Steve Neild, was new when it wasn’t. He alleged that Kate had been seeing Neild since 2009, when she cheated on Jon. 

He further accused her of sharing hotel rooms with Neild during their family vacations and not bothering to hide her romance with the former bodyguard. 

According to The Blast, Collin brazenly called his mother out, asking her to be truthful and own up to her actions.

“I hope she doesn’t try to play this one off. Just come forward and be truthful… I feel very strongly on the matter of cheating and then blaming someone else for γour own actions,” he wrote. 

Jon corroborated with Collin’s accusations and similarly pointed the finger at Neild for allegedly being the driving force behind his divorce from Kate.

About two months ago, he shared a photo of his ex-wife and Neild, writing, “Guess who really ruined the marriage. Read for yourself.”

He also shared an excerpt of a Page Six story that highlighted Kate and Neild’s relationship, writing, “Maybe when I speak people will listen now!!!” per The Blast.

Years ago, when there were rumors about Kate and Neild, the former firmly denied them. However, in light of the recent revelations, it appears her ex-husband did not buy her alleged innocence.
